In late 1936 de Havilland Canada approached the Canadian government about building the Tiger Moth in Canada. De Havilland incorporated RCAF recommended changes to improve winter flying, such as a heated cabin. The Tiger Moth would go on to be the primary ab initio pilot training aircraft of the RCAF during the Second World War.
