With the success of the Lancaster in the United Kingdom, the decision was made to build the bomber in Canada at Victory Aircraft in Toronto, who would build 430. The RCAF bomber squadrons in England were to supposed to be equipped with these Mark X aircraft. After the war the RCAF employed the Lancaster in a variety of roles, on some cases modifying them to suit the RCAF’s requirements.
