April 1, 2024, marked 100 years of service for the Royal Canadian Air Force as a distinct military element. In commemoration and celebration of all the personnel who have and continue to serve Canada both at home and abroad, and in recognition of the positive impact the RCAF has had worldwide, over 500 landmarks, businesses, city halls, and residences, illuminated in blue, honouring all those who have served in the past century.
Spanning 26 countries and 5 continents, this global phenomenon captured the hearts of people across the world and in the process, broke a Guinness World Record for the number of landmarks illuminated in 24 hours, overtaking a record that had stood since 2010.
