The L-19 entered service with the Canadian Army as a light observation aircraft, including artillery spotting and reconnaissance. It was also used for pilot training. Some briefly served in tactical helicopter squadrons in the early 1970s before being sold off by Crown Assets or transferred to the Air Cadets.
