One of the most iconic fighter aircraft of the Second World War, the RCAF used RAF-owned Spitfires for use overseas. The RCAF only had eight on its strength in Canada. Three were for the photographic unit, and three for testing purposes. Two were destined for the RCAF Museum Collection, of which one was received in 1962.
